Cakes
I created two prop cakes for our stock using green insulation foam. I first cut four squares the same size then used a circle jig on the bandsaw to create my cake layers. Next I used a spray adhesive to attach my pieces. After they set I tried two different icing methods. The chocolate cake is a combination of joint compound and Elmer's Glue. This method left an interesting texture and required some extra time sanding to get my desired look. For my vanilla cake, I used white caulk. This came out very nice but was difficult to get smooth.
I created the fruits for my cake using beads, hot glue, and wire for the cherries and the raspberries I used colored hot glue and a mold. I used joint compound and Elmer's Glue with a piping bag to create the decorations on my cake inserting the fruit while it was still wet. I painted Everything with acrylic. |
